CREATIVE TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT FOR MONUMENTAL ISSUE OF ‘SPAWN’ COMIC BOOK
We Have an Advance Look at What You Can Expect from ‘Spawn’ Issue 200

As February rapidly approaches, Todd McFarlane Productions prepares our flagship title, Spawn, for its epic 200th issue. After months of speculation, we bring you our preliminary list of immensely talented artists and writers set to grace the pages of our upcoming anniversary issue.
Without further ado, the Spawn #200 creative team members are:
- Greg Capullo (Spawn, The Creech)
- David Finch (New Avengers, Ultimatum)
- Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead, Haunt)
- Jim Lee (Batman: Hush, All-Star Batman and Robin)
- Rob Liefeld (X-Force, Youngblood)
- Todd McFarlane (Spawn, Haunt)
- Danny Miki (Spawn, Ultimatum)
- Marc Silvestri (Cyberforce, Witchblade)
- Ashley Wood (Popbot, Spawn: Book of the Dead)
When asked how he chose the gifted lineup, Todd McFarlane says, “Issue #200 is fairly significant in the history of any comic book. I was looking at my artist selection as more of an impact on the history of Image Comics. So, I started with people who came through the gates of Image, beginning with some of the original founders like Marc Silvestri, Jim Lee, and Rob Liefeld. Then I went to some of my favorite Image artists over the years like Greg Capullo, David Finch, Danny Miki, and Ashley Wood.
Besides pretty pictures, we needed to have a few surprises in the written story itself. The obvious choice for the job, at this point, was Robert Kirkman.”
Debuting in May of 1992, Spawn has graced retailer and fan shelves for over a decade. Todd McFarlane first conceptualized the character when he was in high school, and decided to resurrect him after forming Image Comics with six other artists in 1992. Releasing to 1.7 million copies, Spawn #1 is the best-selling independent comic to date.
Todd views his success as a byproduct of his audience, but always went into the venture confident. “I never started any project I thought was going to fail,” says the Spawn creator. “The audience has a big say in what they like and don’t like. It’s less about what I want and more about what the audience wants.” In response to getting to issue #200, McFarlane says, ” Now that we’re here, my job is to make it as big, bold, and exciting as possible — and then start making plans for #300!”
Spawn #200 comes to a comic book shop near you February 2010. And we’re not done announcing the creative team just yet! We have a few surprises still up our sleeve. Stay tuned to Spawn.com for future Spawn #200 announcements!

Haunt Comic Sold Out
Taken right from spawn.com-
FIRST ISSUE OF ‘HAUNT’ COMIC BOOK IS SOLD OUT
Second Printing of First Issue Coming to Stores
October 09, 2009
Copyright 2009 TMP International, Inc. Robert Kirkman and Todd McFarlane’s Haunt hit shelves Wednesday, facing an instantaneous distributor level sell out — despite massive preorders and a significant overprint! A second printing is being rushed to fulfill the continued sales velocity, but first printings may still be available at your local comic book store.
“This sellout is attributed to the skills of Robert Kirkman, Ryan Ottley and Greg Capullo. It’s always nice to be a part of such a talented team,” McFarlane said. “I also would like to tip my hat to retailers who, in these tough economic times, are willing to take a chance on the odd title that is outside of the Marvel and DC realm. My hopes, now, are that the books get into the hands of new, faithful consumers and to keep the momentum going through Haunt #2 and beyond.”
Haunt centers on a pair of brothers, Kurt and Daniel Kilgore, who act more like adversaries than family. Kurt, a secret agent, and Daniel, a less than holy priest, bond in a way neither of them expects after Kurt’s untimely death. A surprise fusing of Kurt’s ghost with Daniel’s body creates a chain reaction, turning the brothers into the character, Haunt.
“I had a feeling this book would go over well considering the preorders were up there with Marvel and DC’s releases,” Kirkman said. “That said, it is an honor to have it so well received right off the bat. We’ll continue to aim to make fans happy. Thank you to everyone who’s supported the book, reader and retailer alike!”
Haunt #1 2nd Printing, a 32-page full color comic book for $2.99, will be in-stores November 4th 2009

Todd McFarlane and Robert Kirkman’s newest comic book, Haunt, is coming to comic shops nationwide next Wednesday, October 7th. The long awaited, ongoing series will deliver thrilling storylines, captivating art and features an all-star creative cast consisting of writer, Robert Kirkman (Walking Dead, Invincible), layout artist Greg Capullo (Spawn, The Creech), penciller Ryan Ottley (Invincible), inker Todd McFarlane (Spawn), colorist Fco Plascencia (Invincible) and letterer Richard Starkings (Elephantmen).
What does Haunt co-creator Todd McFarlane have to say about the new book? “One of the more satisfying parts of being an artist is giving birth to these creative children. After spending enough years raising and honing Spawn, Robert nudged me to try a hand at giving birth again. The outcome, combined with Robert’s writing abilities, as well as the art skills of Ottley and Capullo, I’m extremely proud of.”
Haunt is an ongoing monthly comic book from Todd McFarlane Productions and Image Comics. To find out more information please see our Comics section. If you need to find a local comic shop near you, try the Comic Shop Locator.
